If you love cycling, or know someone who loves that cycle life – then &Bikes is one little nugget tucked away in the heart of the CBD that you really ought to visit.
Aside from being all about that bike lifestyle, they also offer up some foodie treats and a pretty divine cup of Baseline Coffee.
Their pastries definitely wear the yellow jersey (ha, I hope that one works) but their fruit salad is deliciously seasonal and fresh for those looking for a healthy nibble.
They sell some of the funniest and punniest bicycle T-Shirts, jewellery, bicycle bells and wicker baskets which are woven by the blind (I’m not even kidding, how cool is that?).
This last little bit of info is perhaps the most important part of it all – you can hire really awesome bicycles with (really big, really cool) wheels which are all about comfort and ease of use – so much so that you can even cycle in a short skirt if you really feel like that is something you want to do. Better than cycling in a short skirt, however, would be hiring a few bikes with some mates and rolling around the streets of Cape Town like the coolest bike street gang ever! (Please understand my humor here, please)
& Bikes serves as the meeting point for Bikes and Wine and have been running cycle tours in and around Cape Town for a good couple of years. You can go on a tour through the Winelands, on a cycling Art Tour or on a little cycle involving and a little bit of beer if that’s what you feel like. The most important part? You don’t have to be a member of your dad’s cycling fraternity to be able to do it, because they cater for people of all fitness levels.
For more info you can pop onto their website or just pop into &Bikes and have a coffee while you’re doing your research, it’s much more fun.
